It was nice to see more members of he OLF at the ASIA Symposium. I't always great to have a face to put with the name and actually get to talk to people in person. Too everyone I saw these past few days, it sure was fun and educational. See you all again in 2017.

To those who have never been, you really should and if you are not already a Member of http://asiartisans.org/ you should join.

This was my second time, and I couldn't have had a better time.
It was great hanging out with many of the great luthiers of our time, and hearing stories of everyone's lives and family.
My only regret was that there wasn't three of me, so I had to choose which class to attend.
Special thanks to Brian for his FP class, John Hall for his advice on binding, and all the guys and girls playing till the wee hours at the pavilion.
It's great that a hobby builder like myself is taken seriously by experienced professionals, and you had to be there for that experience.
Thanks again to everyone.

As a footnote, I saw a lot of really great guitars by first time builders. It's encouraging there's so much young talent in the craft.

Indeed it is great to get out to these events! It's a long haul from CA, but well worth the effort to meet up with old and new friends in the craft. We've been a bit scrambled at the shop, so I was the only one of the crew able to attend this year.

Natalie from LMI bid against me at the fund raiser auction, and made me pay plenty (all in the spirit of fun and donation, of course) for a small piece of amazing acrylic embedded with corn husks donated by MayesCraft. Can't wait to make a tool handle from it.

After the auction she and I went over closed down the Sarah Street Bar and Grill where Gryphon's newest employee, Alex Jordan, was playing with his band, Midnight North. What a coincidence - they were doing a short eastern tour and landed a mile from the Asia Symposium!

Great to meet you Frank. I really wanted one of those sweet pegwinders you donated but they went for a bit more than my accountant would approve. Had enough of a time explaining a chunk of ebony log I have no intentions on cutting up. Hopefully I can make the GAL convention next year.

+1 it was great to meet you Frank.
I had my eye on those peg winders also.
Would have been some nice "Bling" for the shop.

Well, I wanted that ebony log, too - it would have made a great customer conversation starter in the shop!

It was indeed really nice to put names to faces at the show. I find these get togethers so inspiring and it's great to just hang out with folks who share this common passion!

I won the wood handled peg winder. Thanks Frank for teaching all of us so much.

I love how everyone is so willing to share information. It's amazing.
